In and Around Elgin, Moray and

MR2 fleet. RAF Lossiemouth, situated 5 miles north of Elgin, is one
of the RAF's most important bases hosting 4 front-line primary
attack squadrons of Tornado GR1 and GR4's. The base is well known
for it's great spotting and photography

Inland, the waters of
the river Spey and Findhorn provide some of the best fishing in
Scotland. The Speyside Way, one of many walks in the area, follows
the river as it meanders from the hills to the coast and the Moray
Church Trail gives a glimpse of Moray's religious past and present.

lessons and treks can be arranged for all standards.
Elgin's
Cooper Park, situated in the town centre, can be enjoyed by all the
family, containing a public library, boating pond, crazy golf
course, cricket lawn and play area. Close by, the biblical gardens,
containing every plant mentioned in the bible, are well worth a
visit. A walk around Elgin, whether it be a relaxed amble or
structured by the Elgin Town trail, will provide you with some
outstanding architecture, a wide variety of shops and restaurants
and the chance to meet some of the towns' friendly locals. Elgin has
numerous leisure facilities including a modern leisure centre where
ice skating, swimming, relaxation suite and gym are available. Elgin
also has a ten pin bowling alley, two screen cinema, numerous bars,
pubs and nightclubs.
In the heart of whisky country, you may
wish to visit one of the many distilleries open to the public. For
local history, Elgin Museum provides a fascinating insight into
Morays' past , while the Elgin Motor Museum shows the motor car
through the ages. Scattered throughout the town, monuments such as;
the statue of the Fifth Duke of Gordon atop the Lady Hill and the
ruins of the magnificent Elgin Cathedral, provide a taste of the
Elgin of old.
